Original black and white print. Alice Austen's grandfather John H. Austen asleep in a chair on beach with his head on a pillow. Two women sit next to him under a sun umbrella. John wears a dark suit and a straw hat there is a ring visible on his right hand his left hand holds a crumpled up section of newspaper. There is a building partially visible in the background. The two unidentified women appear to be talking the one closest wears a patterned dress and hat the other a solid dark dress her face is obscured by the other woman and the umbrella that is between them. |
